From Manly to Palm Beach, Northern Beaches blocks are steep, sandy and exposed to salt air. We design and build retaining walls that suit the slope, the soil and the coast, and get them approved.
Many Northern Beaches homes sit on steep escarpment blocks or sandy coastal soils. Both put retaining walls under real pressure: steep sites carry more load, and sandy soils drain and shift differently to the clay found elsewhere in Sydney.
Coastal exposure matters too. Salt air speeds up corrosion of steel posts and reinforcement, so material choice and galvanising matter more here than inland. Natural sandstone and well-built concrete sleeper or gabion walls perform well on the coast.
Northern Beaches Council has its own rules for retaining walls, including height limits, setbacks and landslip and bushfire considerations on some sites. We check the controls for your property and handle the approval when one is needed.

If any of these sound familiar, it is worth a free site visit. We will tell you straight what your site needs.
Breaking a steep slope into level terraces for lawns, gardens and pools.
Rotted treated pine walls swapped for concrete sleeper, sandstone or block.
Walls along steep driveways and parking areas, engineered for vehicle loads.
Retaining walls that support pool excavations and surrounds on sloping sites.
Natural sandstone walls that suit the local landscape and weather well.
Repairs and rebuilds where poor drainage or salt corrosion has caused failure.
On a steep Northern Beaches block? Send us a few photos and we will tell you what is possible.
We recommend the wall that suits your slope, soil, budget and the look of your street.
Popular, cost-effective and durable, with hot-dip galvanised posts for coastal sites.
Natural sandstone blocks that match the Northern Beaches landscape and last for generations.
Free-draining rock-filled baskets that suit steep, wet and sandy sites.
Reinforced block and concrete walls for tall walls, driveways and boundaries.
Multiple low walls that turn a steep slope into usable outdoor space.
Failing, leaning and rotting walls fixed or replaced with proper drainage.

Every Northern Beaches wall follows the same five steps.
We inspect the wall, the ground behind it, the drainage and what sits above it, and measure the lean, cracking or movement.
We work out why it is failing and bring in a structural or geotechnical engineer where the height, load or boundary requires it.
A written quote that sets out repair or rebuild options, drainage, access, approvals and timing. No vague lump sums.
Our crew stabilises or replaces the wall with proper footings, ag drainage, aggregate, geotextile and weep holes.
Clean site, photos of the footings and drainage before backfill, and engineer sign-off where applicable.
Galvanised steel, proper drainage and engineering for the load, so your wall stands up to coastal conditions.
We build retaining walls across the Northern Beaches, including steep sites that need machinery access, engineering and council approval.
Every wall we build or repair gets ag drainage, clean aggregate, geotextile and weep holes. Water is what breaks walls.
Walls over about a metre, on boundaries or holding up driveways are designed by an engineer to AS 4678.
Builder Licence 384697C, $20M public liability and workers compensation on every site.
We check council rules, prepare the paperwork and lodge the CDC or DA when a wall needs one.
Concrete sleeper, timber, sandstone, gabion, block and reinforced concrete. We recommend what suits the site, not what we prefer to sell.
Family builders on Sydney sites since the 1970s, including steep blocks other builders walk away from.
Real reviews from homeowners, strata and builders.
Council approval sorted, engineering sorted, wall done in a week. Could not fault the process.
Our sandstone wall was crumbling and the whole garden was sliding. Constantine came out the next day, explained everything clearly, and the new wall is rock solid.
METCON replaced our failing timber wall with concrete sleepers. Straightforward quote, tidy site, and it looks fantastic.
Straight answers from the builder. Anything else, just ask.
It depends on the height and location. As a general guide in NSW:
We check your council's rules and handle the application for you.
In almost every case, yes. Poor drainage is the number one cause of retaining wall failure. We install ag-drainage, gravel backfill and weep holes as standard on every wall.
Yes. Steep sites are a large part of what we do. We use compact machinery, staged excavation and engineered designs, and plan access for spoil removal and materials before we start.
A standard residential wall typically takes 3 to 10 working days, depending on length, height, access and whether excavation or engineering is involved. Walls that need council approval can add 4 to 8 weeks for the approval process.
Not sure this is the right wall for your site? Compare the other systems we build, or ask the builder.

We build and repair retaining walls in every Northern Beaches suburb, from Manly and Dee Why to Avalon and Palm Beach.
Your suburb, a few photos of the slope and roughly how long and high the wall needs to be is enough to start.
