STRUCTURAL UPGRADES

Stronger Structures. Better Performance.

We strengthen and modify commercial structures across Sydney. Steel beams, column reinforcement, mezzanine floors, and load-bearing changes — engineered and built with minimal disruption.

Upgrading What Already Stands

Commercial buildings evolve. Tenancies change, loads increase, new plant goes on the roof, or a mezzanine floor is needed to maximise usable area. The existing structure often needs to be upgraded to handle the new demands.

We carry out structural strengthening and modification works for commercial properties across Sydney. That includes installing new steel beams, reinforcing columns, modifying load-bearing walls, adding mezzanine floors, and upgrading connections between existing structural elements.

Every job is designed by a structural engineer. We work closely with the engineer from the design phase through to completion, ensuring the construction matches the specification and the certifier signs off without issue.

Structural Upgrade Services

We deliver a full range of structural modifications and strengthening works for commercial buildings.

Steel Beam Installation

New steel beams to support increased loads, span wider openings, or replace failing structural elements. Fabricated to engineer drawings, delivered, and installed with temporary propping and permanent connections.

Column Reinforcement

Strengthening existing columns to carry additional loads. Steel plate bonding, concrete jacketing, carbon fibre wrapping, or full column replacement depending on the engineering assessment.

Load-Bearing Modifications

Removing, relocating, or modifying load-bearing walls and elements to create new layouts. Temporary propping systems installed before any structural element is disturbed.

Mezzanine Floors

Steel-framed mezzanine floors to add usable area within existing building envelopes. Designed for the intended load, connected to existing structure, and compliant with BCA requirements for access, fire, and egress.

Connection Upgrades

Strengthening connections between beams, columns, and foundations. Welded plates, bolted brackets, chemical anchors, and new base plates to bring connections up to current engineering standards.

Temporary Support Systems

Engineered temporary propping and shoring to maintain structural stability during modification works. Designed by the structural engineer and monitored throughout the construction period.

How We Approach Structural Work

  • All work designed by qualified structural engineers
  • Steel beams, columns, and connections to AS 4100
  • Concrete strengthening to AS 3600
  • Staged works to minimise disruption to building operations
  • Temporary propping and shoring engineered for each project
  • Mezzanine floors designed for intended loads and BCA compliance
  • Full documentation and engineering certification on completion
  • Licensed NSW builder with structural construction experience

Structural upgrades in occupied commercial buildings require careful planning. We stage the works to keep disruption to a minimum, install temporary supports before any structural element is touched, and coordinate closely with building management throughout.

The structural engineer inspects at critical hold points during construction and certifies the completed work. You receive full documentation for your records, council, and the building's structural file.
